๐Ÿ“ Notes for the Curious: Edition #59

Hello,

I have some very exciting news for Notes readers based in Europe. This September a brand new conference is launching in the Netherlands. The Rise & Lead conference has been established by Ebere Akidiri. Ebere is a serial entrepreneur, she is the owner of Ataro Foods & Spices and the author of the delicious Vibrant West African Cuisine Cookbook.

Rise & Lead will be arriving in The Hague on the 27th of September. Ebere has a very clear vision to help women to become leaders in business and I feel very fortunate that she has invited me to be part of the conference. I will be MCing the conference and moderating the panel on visibility strategies. The tickets have just been released (this is my speaker link) and right now, the early bird price means that you will save 30% on the total ticket price. But there are only a few early bird tickets available so you don't want to hang around on this one. I would love to see some of our Notes readers at the conference. Will you join me?

And now let's get on with the Notes...

1) The ultimate guide to meeting people at events

As you know, I love being on stage. LOVE. I do not love conference networking. It is hell for introverts as these large crowd situations can be very energy draining. I always need at least a day to recover afterwards. I'm going to be speaking at and attending several events after the summer so I am taking notes from this great guide. NB: The link will open a pdf directly rather than a webpage.

2) 16,516 unread emails

Just the mere thought gives me an eye twitch. I need to be at inbox (almost) zero most of the time. Which doesn't mean that everything is responded to, just that it has been given a deadline for dealing with it or it doesn't need my input and is archived, out of sight. If you're looking for inbox nirvana, this might be your starting point.

3) Your summer reading list

I need to shake myself out of a reading rut. I seem to have lost the art of reading fiction (temporarily). But these books look like just the thing to jolt me right out of my comfort zone. If you've read any of them, let me know which ones I should start with.

4) Unshakeable confidence

We all want it. And Tanya Geisler is going to show us how to get it. Tanya has just launched a fun, but insightful quiz to help you discover what (if anything) is standing in the way of your unshakeable confidence.

5)  No break? No problem.

Look, we all know that we should be practising self-care and putting ourselves first but sometimes life just doesn't work that way. If you know that you need to recharge but for reasons beyond your control you cannot take a break right now, then here are 10 ways you can refill your energy banks and keep spinning all those plates. If you're wondering what I do when I need to recharge, I crochet. Work and life are busy (the end of term curse) so I am making sure that I relax on the sofa each evening with my crochet, I'm working on a blanket. It has the added bonus that while my hands are creating I cannot be mindlessly scrolling through things of no importance on my phone. Win = win.

Until the next Notes,

Emmy

P.S. COMING SOON! The Curious Business Podcast. There, I've said it. Now it has to happen. And here is the non-fancy trailer. Because I want to share it with my Notes readers first. More to come once I recover from the discomfort of revealing my secret project to you... I'm nervous. Which usually means something good is about to happen.
